That’s because golf instruction has been the heart of what our club is about since 1965, when PGA professional Darrell Acker Sr. first purchased Marshfield Country Club. From the beginning, we knew that high quality golf instruction would be the engine that would keep golfers coming back to Marshfield Country Club. In other words: We want to make golf more fun for you so that you’ll keep playing with us.

Now, 40 years later, our head golf professional Chip Acker, a 20-year PGA member, an avid student of Chuck Hogan, one of the world’s greatest golf teachers, heads up an outstanding instructional program aimed at teaching you the basics, if you’re a beginner, and putting the fire back into your game, if you’re a skilled player.

Acker has developed a new system of golf instruction based on the biology of how the human brain and body actually learn a skill. The concepts diverge so much from conventional wisdom that Acker has given them a name that would indicate the difference.

He calls his new program, New Paradigms Chip Acker Golf.

Our simple, clear and concise teaching process is dedicated to the idea that “golf is supposed to be fun” and great golf is effortless when you’re in the “zone.”

New Paradigms is not dependent on any specific swing theory. Instead we instill pre-golf skills and simplify golf swing mechanics. We focus more on the playing of the game and in removing obstacles to maximum performance. We have developed a learning environment where it is impossible for you to fail.

We have great practice facilities, among the best in central Wisconsin, where you’ll be learning and practicing your skills, including a 10,000 square-foot putting green maintained to tournament quality conditions and a range with 30 hitting stations.

We offer a series of six one-hour private lessons for $300. We also provide group lessons through Marshfield Parks and Recreation for men, women, mixed groups and children at extremely reasonable rates.
